The Carolinian is the largest African-American newspaper in North Carolina. Our circulation covers 2/3 of the state, which is the most dense African-American population in NC, and our digital reach is nationwide. In addition to spanning the state, we also span generations of readers. Join us for an extraordinary evening that pays homage to the brilliance and creativity of black women artists.
Built from the successful model established through the Artspace North Carolina Emerging Artist in Residence program, this year-long residency focuses on recent graduates from historically Black colleges and universities (HBCU). Upon graduation students often lose resources, equipment, colleagues, and mentors. The HBCU Artist Residency seeks to remedy those issues by extending the learning process and broadening the experience for recent graduates to build their career as a visual artist. The Artspace HBCU Artist Residency aims to highlight and support the many talented artists graduating from these culturally rich institutions. Every year Artspace selects one emerging artist for this career-stimulus residency.
