AKtivate Fitness Rocksteady Boxing Fundraiser

AKtivate Fitness has launched a unique fight against Parkinson's Disease through a specialized non-contact boxing program, as part of their Rock Steady Boxing affiliation, aiming to empower nearly 1 million Americans living with this neurodegenerative disorder. The organization seeks community support through volunteering, donations, and resources, including a new Pedaling for Parkinson's program, to continue offering and expanding its impactful services.

HBCU Artist Residency Program

Built from the successful model established through the Artspace North Carolina Emerging Artist in Residence program, this year-long residency focuses on recent graduates from historically Black colleges and universities (HBCU). Upon graduation students often lose resources, equipment, colleagues, and mentors. The HBCU Artist Residency seeks to remedy those issues by extending the learning process and broadening the experience for recent graduates to build their career as a visual artist. The Artspace HBCU Artist Residency aims to highlight and support the many talented artists graduating from these culturally rich institutions. Every year Artspace selects one emerging artist for this career-stimulus residency.

A “Poker Run” will be held for COTA in honor of Kristen Allen, who has had a heart transplant.  The event is planned for Nov. 9th, at the Angier Black River Fire Department. 25-year-old Kristen Allen has received a Heart transplant at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.  Funds are being raised in honor of Kristen Allen to assist with transplant-related expenses.
