RALEIGH, NC - The Beta Lambda Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and the Beta Lambda Sigma Charitable Foundation recently hosted their annual Operation BigBookBag (OBBB), helping local families prepare for the upcoming school year.
Held Saturday, August 15, the community-focused event provided free backpacks, school supplies, snack kits, and dental kits to hundreds of scholars. The event continues the chapter’s longstanding commitment to education, youth development, and community service.
This year’s Operation BigBookBag was made possible through the collaborative efforts of SAFEchild, the University of Phoenix Raleigh Alumni Chapter, the National Black MBA Association–Raleigh/Durham, SEANC, the Beta Lambda Sigma Philo Affiliates, the Beta Lambda Sigma Rhoer Affiliates, and the Beta Theta Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
The event demonstrated the power of community partnerships and what can happen when organizations come together around a shared mission. Volunteers worked alongside community partners to ensure students received essential supplies and encouragement as they prepared to return to the classroom.
For Beta Lambda Sigma, Operation BigBookBag represents more than distributing school supplies. It is an opportunity to invest in local youth, support families, and help students begin the school year feeling prepared and confident.
The chapter and foundation extend their sincere appreciation to all partners, volunteers, donors, and supporters who helped make this year’s event a success.
One backpack. One scholar. One brighter future.
