On February 28, 2025, former Councilman Brad Thompson and his wife, Dorothy Thompson, proudly presented the inaugural Southeast Raleigh Awards. The event recognized outstanding individuals and businesses that have made significant contributions to the Southeast Raleigh community. Six prestigious awards, named after local pioneers, were presented:
