The Carolinian is the largest African-American newspaper in North Carolina. Our circulation covers 2/3 of the state, which is the most dense African-American population in NC, and our digital reach is nationwide. In addition to spanning the state, we also span generations of readers. Urban Community AgriNomics (UCAN) is hosting a special Black History Month event at Catawba Trail Farm in Durham on Saturday, February 24th from 11 am to 2 pm. An open house for visitors to tour the gardens, trails, and historic structures, this celebration honors the rich African American history embedded in the land.
Meet the Heroes is a kid friendly interactive Black History event in Durham, NC through a collaboration of parents. This year is all about the Old West!
Meet the Heroes of Black history through actors, activities and crafts. The event is designed like a living museum where you are free to travel and meet the historical figures and participate in a craft or STEM project based on the profession and achievements of each Hero. You can listen to the hero's personal story of triumph, perseverance, and success. There will be Bull Riding, Horse Hop Races, Horseshoe Painting, Panning for Gemstones and PomPom Canons. Learn about how African Americans shaped the West with bravery and persistence. Additionally, the Black Wall Street with the Cash Tornado Booth and a Bounce House will be there.

Youth Symposium is an annual one-day initiative of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. that’s held on the second Saturday in March by Alumnae chapters across the country and supported by their undergraduate chapters and aliates.
