In honor of the federally recognized holiday Juneteenth, the third annual North Carolina Official Juneteenth Flag-Raising Ceremony will take place on Monday, June 2, 2025, outside the Durham County Courthouse (510 S. Dillard Street). The event is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m., and the flag-raising will take place at approximately 12 p.m.

Project ALPHA is a free, mentor-led workshop for young men entering grades 8–12. ​In the wake of concerns about the future of the J.W. Ligon Magnet Middle School Building, located at 706 E. Lenoir Street in Raleigh, NC , a Ligon Advisory Council has been selected consisting of four J.W. Ligon High School Alumni, two Ligon Middle School faculty members, 1-2 Middle School parents, and 1-2 Middle School current students. The council’s first scheduled meeting is on August 18th.

Join us for the Fourth Ward Gospel Extravaganza on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 4–7 PM at the A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater in Raleigh. The African Children’s Choir celebrates over 40 years of hope and transformation through music, education, and worship. Comprised of children ages 8–10 from across Africa, the Choir shares powerful performances of hymns, cultural songs, and stories of faith. Concerts are free to attend, with donations supporting their mission to provide life-changing opportunities for future leaders.
