The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department is partnering with Wake Forest native Ronald “Skip” Parker to host a “Black History Expo”

Free and open to the public, the expo will feature on display many of Parker’s unique and authentic antiques and collectibles from the mid-1800s through the mid-1900s, including an 1842 wooden washboard, a vintage 1954 DeLaval stainless steel milk can, antique dolls depicting Rosa Parks, Ida B. Wells, Ella Fitzgerald, Katherine Johnson, and Maya Angelou, and much more.

People of African descent have played a significant role in shaping a uniquely American style of eating. Join us as we partake in a cultural cuisine experience in honor of Black History Month. Lunch will be provided by a locally Black-owned restaurant. Registration is required and will open late January.

The 7th annual 2024 North Carolina Black Heritage Festival themed "Remember the past, Celebrate the present, & Shape the future" will feature 100 black owned companies. Crafts, culture, art, games, performances, information and more is some of what attendees can expect. Free giveaways, discounts, and coupons make the vendor shopping experience like none other and also kids activities. Support black business and black excellence.

The Capital Area Section of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. (CAS-NCNW) of Raleigh, NC is proud to host our 20th Annual Harambee Women's of Excellence Awards Luncheon recognizing "Black History Month" and honoring one's service in the community. Our theme for this year is "Honoring the Legacy of Women Leaders". In these unprecedented times, we have seen the challenges and need increase in our community. Harambee which is a celebration of a Community and Togetherness was started in Kenya in 1963, and gives us an opportunity to put it into practice. This event is our signature fundraiser to support our outreach programs in the greater Raleigh community.
Our keynote speaker is Dr. Paulette Dillard, President of Shaw University. We will be honoring the following women of excellence for their tireless work and contirubutions in the community: Jocelyn Mitnaul Mallette, Dr. Linda R. Jordon, and Kimberly H. Winborne.
The National Council of Negro Women was established in 1935 by Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune for the mission to advance the opportunities and the quality of life for African American women, their families and communities. The Capital Area Section was founded in February 1999 under the leadership of Christine B . Jones and Frances Bethea Grant. Our local community outreach programs include Salvation Army, Wake County Women's Center, Loaves and Fishes, MATCH, Shirley Sheares Men's Empowerment Center and Raleigh Rescue Mission as well as other service projects.

North Central CAC and Tarboro Road Community Center are honoring the legacy of College Park and Idlewild for the 35th Black History Month Program.

Urban Community AgriNomics (UCAN) is hosting a special Black History Month event at Catawba Trail Farm in Durham on Saturday, February 24th from 11 am to 2 pm. An open house for visitors to tour the gardens, trails, and historic structures, this celebration honors the rich African American history embedded in the land.

Meet the Heroes is a kid friendly interactive Black History event in Durham, NC through a collaboration of parents. This year is all about the Old West!
Meet the Heroes of Black history through actors, activities and crafts. The event is designed like a living museum where you are free to travel and meet the historical figures and participate in a craft or STEM project based on the profession and achievements of each Hero. You can listen to the hero's personal story of triumph, perseverance, and success. There will be Bull Riding, Horse Hop Races, Horseshoe Painting, Panning for Gemstones and PomPom Canons. Learn about how African Americans shaped the West with bravery and persistence. Additionally, the Black Wall Street with the Cash Tornado Booth and a Bounce House will be there.
