RALEIGH, NC - The Wake County Board of Elections is reminding residents that the voter registration deadline for the 2026 General Election is Friday, Oct. 9. Anyone wishing to make their voice heard in the upcoming Nov. 3 General Election should check their voter registration online now to ensure it is current.
Eligible voters can register or update their voter information by completing a one-page form. The completed and signed form may be submitted through one of the following methods:
- Postmarked by Oct. 9 and mailed to Wake County Board of Elections, PO Box 695, Raleigh, NC 27602;
- Delivered in person to the Wake County Board of Elections Office at 1200 N. New Hope Rd., Raleigh, NC 27610 by 5 p.m. on Oct. 9;
- Printed and signed, scanned or photographed, and emailed to voter@wake.gov by 5 p.m. on Oct. 9;
- Faxed to 919-743-4746 by 5 p.m. on Oct. 9; or
- Submitted at any Wake County Public Library (or other approved agency) by 5 p.m. on Oct. 9.
- Voters with a valid North Carolina driver license or identification card from the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles may also register to vote or update their information online through the myNCDMV website. This is a free and standalone service of the DMV.
Voter Registration Requirements
To register to vote in Wake County for the 2026 General Election, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen;
- Be at least 18 years old on or before Nov. 3;
- Be a resident of Wake County for 30 days prior to Election Day (Oct. 4); and
- Not currently be serving a felony sentence, including any period of probation, post-release supervision or parole.
The voter registration form requires an identification number – a North Carolina driver license number or North Carolina DMV identification number or, for voters who do not have one, the last four digits of their Social Security number. Voters who do not have either form of identification must check the box on the form confirming they do not have one.
Voter registration is maintained at the county level, and voters who have moved into Wake County from another county must re-register. Registered voters may choose to cast their ballot by mail, in person at an Early Voting site, or in person on Election Day.
