M&F Bank Celebrates The Rock Quarry Rd Reopening Location

Raleigh witnessed a vibrant celebration of community and financial empowerment as M&F Bank reopened its newly renovated Rock Quarry Road branch. The event, marking 95 years of the bank’s presence in Raleigh and 118 years since M&F Banks’ founding on Durham’s Black Wall Street. The evening was a resounding success, showcasing M&F’s commitment to local businesses and the legacy of Black entrepreneurship.

The renovated branch was beautiful and welcoming, reopening its doors with a significant gesture: a $10,000 giveaway to a deserving area business. This act of generosity underscored the dedication to fostering economic growth within the community.

Jim Sills, President of M&F Bank, emphasized the importance of engaging with the M&F ecosystem, while Mayor Janet Cowell spoke passionately about “the incredible difficulties of the most talented individuals trying to do business and why M&F is so important.” Her words highlighted the crucial role M&F Bank plays in supporting entrepreneurs who often face systemic barriers.

Neal Wilcox, EVP of Fiserv, a partner of M&F Bank, further emphasized the bank’s impact, stating, “We move more than money, in our partnership with M&F Bank,” referencing the Clover point of sale system. 

David Daniels of Daniels Distributors, a lifelong entrepreneur and electrical engineer, was announced as the $10,000 giveaway recipient. Daniels expressed his gratitude, stating, “M&F has done a great job from the beginning. This bank, without a doubt, cares for the community and how it grows. Perfect timing, this injection of money is perfect for our next phase.” The prize package also included a dedicated banker, complimentary Clover merchant equipment, continuing access to financial education, and a complimentary membership to the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.

M&F Bank’s reopening celebration was a testament to their commitment to community investment and their enduring legacy. With doubled assets in the last five years and ongoing renovations to all their branches, M&F Bank continues to be a vital resource for local businesses and residents, and beyond.
