As part of the event\, Invision Diagnostics is offering a FREE 3D mammograms service on Saturday\, April 13\, 2024\, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event will take place at Hillside High School\, located at 3727 Fayetteville Road\, Durham\, NC 27707. \nGetting your annual mammogram takes just 20 minutes and could save your life. To be eligible for this service\, you must register for Women’s Health Awareness 2024 at https://www.niehs.nih.gov/womenshealthawareness and complete an eligibility questionnaire by the deadline of Friday\, March 15\, 2024. Walk-ins for mammography services on the day of the event will not be accepted. \nThis event is led by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)\, Clinical Research Branch\, Office of Human Research and Community Engagement\, and is co-sponsored by the Durham Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.\, Durham Alumnae Delta House Inc.\, and North Carolina Central University Department of Public Health Education. Don’t miss this opportunity to prioritize your health and contribute to the awareness and improvement of women’s health in our communities. \n  \nAbout the Program\nThe Women’s Health Awareness (WHA) Community Engagement Program is an innovative environmental health research\, public health practice and advocacy initiative. The Program is located within the Office of Human Research and Community Engagement (OHRCE)\, Clinical Research Branch (CRB)\, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). WHA engages women across North Carolina and beyond\, with a focus on understudied\, underrepresented\, underreported\, and underserved (U4) populations. \nThe Program has the following aims: \n\nTo provide evidence-based community health interventions to promote wellness\, environmental health literacy\, and environmental public health.\nTo examine and respond to environmental health disparities utilizing a racial and gender equity lens.\nTo advocate for environmental justice issues and support the building of localized community health resiliency.\nTo train students\, researchers and post-doctoral fellows\, and clinical and public health practitioners in community and environmental health research and practice.\n\nWHA Mission Statement\nOur mission is to conduct community-engaged research\, educate and advocate on the intersecting issues of environmental health disparities\, environmental and social justice\, health and well-being\, and gender and racial inequities to build community-based health resiliency. This includes utilizing community partnerships to support the development of research\, evidence-based interventions and health education and environmental literacy aimed at empowering women to take responsibility for their health\, understand the critical intersections of health and the environment\, and to advocate on environmental justice issues directly impacting their communities. \nInstitutional Linkage\nThe Women’s Health Awareness (WHA) Community Engagement Program\, housed within the NIEHS\, seeks to enhance research for U4 populations of women across their lifespan.
